Summary of Position

The Clinical Coordinator performs essential coordination activities to assure the efficient operation of the clinical sites/facilities for the programs in the Department of Nursing.

Education and Experience

Master's Degree in Nursing
  • A minimum of 3 years of recent nursing experience.
  • Administrative experience preferred.

Knowledge Skills and Ability

  • Be knowledgeable of the Rules and Regulations relating to the Education, Licensure and Practice of Professional Nurses and Vocational Nurses as per the Texas Board of Nursing (BON). Be knowledgeable of accreditation standards for the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing, Inc. (ACEN).
  • Be knowledgeable of CTC and Department of Nursing polices and utilize those in job performance.
  • Liaison with the Chair and Assistant Chair, Department of Nursing and the Nursing Coordinator regarding clinical agency issues and clinical needs in each program.
  • Exhibit professionalism in all areas and interactions with others (students, staff, professors, and public).
  • Model excellent communication, problem solving and critical thinking skills with others.
  • Maintain competency in nursing and nursing education.
  • Meets and exceeds required continuing education requirements for re-licensure and for job specific needs.
  • Demonstrate flexibility in responding to job requirements.
  • Able to provide nursing education using traditional or alternate delivery methods.
  • Currently licensed or hold privileges to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Texas.

Essential Functions

  • Flexibility in adjusting to working with students, professors, and clinical agency contact persons.
  • Gather and organize clinical scheduling requests from the nursing programs and the professors in each semester in session.
  • Coordinate with the EMT/P Clinical Coordinator.
  • Liaison with affiliated agencies regarding the clinical schedules and agency orientations for students and faculty.
  • Problem-solving abilities to work with the Assistant and Chair, Department of Nursing and the team/semester/level coordinators related to clinical issues.
  • Assist in the evaluation of the clinical professors.
  • Gather evaluative data from professors, students and agencies and analyze, trend and aggregate it to make needed suggestions for change.
  • Organize, orchestrate, and document annual agency meeting. Attend all on-site clinical agency meetings.
  • Make periodic clinical site visits during the semester.
  • Actively participates in QEP, SACS-COC, ACEN, THECB, TBON and program specific accrediting agency activities.
  • Assumes clinical responsibilities on an ‘as needed’ basis.
  • Carries a teaching load defined by the needs of the programs.
