The Electrical Apprentice is responsible for assisting with the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems while gaining hands-on experience in the electrical trade. This role supports journeyman electricians and job foremen in the successful execution of construction projects while developing the skills and knowledge required to progress through the Apprenticeship program.

The Electrical

Apprentice is expected to perform work safely, maintain high-quality standards, and actively participate in required on-the-job training and classroom instruction.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assist electricians by performing tasks under the direct supervision of an electrician actually installing the work and handling bulk of materials. This employee should keep all materials, tools, and equipment in an orderly fashion and keep the work area, company vehicle, job trailers and storage trailers clean at all times. Demonstrate safe work habits and proper care of tools and equipment.
  • Understanding of language, terms, and skills in use of tools on the job.
  • Produce quantity of work equal to the job requirements and Company standards.
  • Produce quality work that meets or exceeds National Electrical Code requirements.
  • Think ahead as to show how to spend available time for maximum production.
  • Maintain equipment and tools in proper working order.
  • Maintain positive attitude towards completing job and complying with all Company policies.

  • Notify journeyman or job foreman when materials or equipment need to be ordered and or replaced in a timely manner.
  • Assist in all aspects of electrical installations. Attend instructional classes required by Supervisor.
  • Complete required company safety training within a timely fashion.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Job requires working in all elements, depending on job location, time of year (heat, cold, rain, snow).
  • Must be able to utilize construction site sanitary facilities (Porta-Johns).
  • Job requires employees to have personal tools with them at all times as described in the required tool list.
  • Work from all types of ladders (step ladders up to 14', "A" frame ladders and all sizes of extension ladders, and carry and relocate up to 12' step ladder by one's self).
  • Employee's personal weight and personal tools cannot exceed weight limit of ladder (Class 1-250 lbs., Class 1A-300 lbs.).
  • Perform work at various heights (up to 90') from ladders, scaffolds, aerial lifts, cat walks or other areas.
  • Work in restricted areas (switchgear room manholes, utility tunnels, crawl spaces, attics).
  • Wear personal protective equipment (hard hat, safety glasses, gloves and EH rated safety toe footwear at all times), respirator when required.
  • Repetitive use of arms, hands and fingers.
  • Able to work 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week, overtime as required and night shifts.
  • This position requires uncompensated travel up to a 40-mile radius from your prime residence.
  • This position may require overnight stays in which compensation will be calculated by the Federal Per-Diem rates as defined by the job location.
  • Apprentices are prohibited from working on energized circuits or equipment.
