This role ensures optimal system performance, supports upgrades and maintenance, and collaborates closely with Epic application teams, infrastructure teams, and operational stakeholders. The administrator plays a critical role in maintaining a stable, secure, and high‑performing Epic platform.</span></p><h2><span style="font-family: calibri; font-size: 12pt;"><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong></span></h2><h3><span style="font-family: calibri; font-size: 12pt;"><strong>Database Administration & Performance</strong></span></h3><ul><li><span style="font-family: calibri; font-size: 12pt;">Manage, monitor, and optimize Epic’s Caché/IRIS database environment to ensure high availability and performance.</span></li><li><span style="font-family: calibri; font-size: 12pt;">Perform routine database maintenance, including journaling, backups, indexing, and space management.</span></li><li><span style="font-family: calibri; font-size: 12pt;">Monitor system health, troubleshoot performance issues, and implement tuning strategies.</span></li><li><span style="font-family: calibri; font-size: 12pt;">Maintain and optimize database configurations, globals, routines, and storage structures.</span></li></ul><h3><span style="font-family: calibri; font-size: 12pt;"><strong>System Maintenance & Upgrades</strong></span></h3><ul><li><span style="font-family: calibri; font-size: 12pt;">Support Epic upgrades, releases, and database‑related maintenance activities.</span></li><li><span style="font-family: calibri; font-size: 12pt;">Apply Caché/IRIS patches, hotfixes, and version updates in coordination with Epic and infrastructure teams.</span></li><li><span style="font-family: calibri; font-size: 12pt;">Participate in environment refreshes, cloning, and system migrations.</span></li><li><span style="font-family: calibri; font-size: 12pt;">Ensure proper documentation and validation of all changes.</span></li></ul><h3><span style="font-family: calibri; font-size: 12pt;"><strong>Security & Compliance</strong></span></h3><ul><li><span style="font-family: calibri; font-size: 12pt;">Maintain database security, including user access, roles, and auditing.</span></li><li><span style="font-family: calibri; font-size: 12pt;">Ensure compliance with organizational policies, regulatory requirements, and Epic best practices.</span></li><li><span style="font-family: calibri; font-size: 12pt;">Support encryption, certificate management, and secure data handling procedures.</span></li></ul><h3><span style="font-family: calibri; font-size: 12pt;"><strong>Disaster Recovery & Backup Management</strong></span></h3><ul><li><span style="font-family: calibri; font-size: 12pt;">Manage and validate backup and restore processes for Epic databases.</span></li><li><span style="font-family: calibri; font-size: 12pt;">Participate in disaster recovery planning, testing, and execution.</span></li><li><span style="font-family: calibri; font-size: 12pt;">Ensure data integrity and availability across all environments.</span></li></ul><h3><span style="font-family: calibri; font-size: 12pt;"><strong>Collaboration & Support</strong></span></h3><ul><li><span style="font-family: calibri; font-size: 12pt;">Work closely with Epic application teams to understand workflow impacts and support data‑related needs.</span></li><li><span style="font-family: calibri; font-size: 12pt;">Collaborate with server, storage, and network teams to ensure optimal infrastructure performance.</span></li><li><span style="font-family: calibri; font-size: 12pt;">Provide tier‑3 support for database‑related incidents and participate in on‑call rotations.</span></li><li><span style="font-family: calibri; font-size: 12pt;">Assist with capacity planning, monitoring, and long‑term performance strategies.</span></li></ul><h3><span style="font-family: calibri; font-size: 12pt;"><strong>Documentation & Governance</strong></span></h3><ul><li><span style="font-family: calibri; font-size: 12pt;">Maintain detailed documentation of database configurations, maintenance procedures, and operational standards.</span></li><li><span style="font-family: calibri; font-size: 12pt;">Participate in change control, governance processes, and technical reviews.</span></li><li><span style="font-family: calibri; font-size: 12pt;">Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and best‑practice development.</span></li></ul><h2><span style="font-family: calibri; font-size: 12pt;"><strong>Qualifications</strong></span></h2><h3><span style="font-family: calibri; font-size: 12pt;"><strong>Required</strong></span></h3><ul><li><span style="font-family: calibri; font-size: 12pt;">Experience administering InterSystems Caché or IRIS databases, ideally in a healthcare or Epic environment.</span></li><li><span style="font-family: calibri; font-size: 12pt;">Strong understanding of database performance tuning, journaling, backup strategies, and storage management.</span></li><li><span style="font-family: calibri; font-size: 12pt;">Familiarity with Linux/Unix environments and command‑line administration.</span></li><li><span style="font-family: calibri; font-size: 12pt;">Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.</span></li><li><span style="font-family: calibri; font-size: 12pt;">Ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non‑technical teams.</span></li><li><span style="font-family: calibri; Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, market factors, and where applicable, licensure or certifications obtained.
