Job Title: Expression of Interest Electronic Technician
Organization: South Zone Maintenance (51111050)
Essential Job Duties
Troubleshoot, repair, test, and install all types of instrument and electronic equipment including but not limited to: computers, audio/video, x-ray equipment, laser, fiber optic, radio/communication, networking, scientific equipment, vacuum, numerically controlled equipment, alarm systems, Delta Control Systems, programmable logic controllers, pneumatic air handling systems, gauges, relief valves, transmitters, scales, control valves, and other miscellaneous machinery.
Maintain various plant wide systems ranging from building controls to utility services.
Maintenance on a large array of pneumatic, hydraulic, electric, and mechanical equipment.
Responsible for knowledge of programming for low voltage DC controls as well as a strong basis and working knowledge in general electrical circuitry.
Must be proficient at reading prints, sketches, electrical diagrams and schematics of pneumatic, fluidic, electrical and electronic control circuits for the fabrication, installation, modification and troubleshooting work required of this craft.
Uses all types of test equipment and related hand power tools in the removal, installation, repair, fabrication, calibration, adjustment of equipment.
Prepares related reports, records, and requisitions as needed.
Maintains related files and records as required.
Assists in the inventory of equipment, tools, and parts.
Responsible for the proper handling, maintenance, use, and accountability of all equipment, tools, and parts to which assigned.
Ensures proper preparation, maintenance, and accountability of reports, requisitions, and other related data.
Adheres to Manual of Regulations and Procedures for Federal Radio Frequency Management.
Maintains proficiency in the advancement of job-related electronics.
Reports any irregularities which might violate Federal Communication Commission regulations and/or other related regulations.
Adheres to all applicable safety and security standards.
Responsible for maintaining a knowledge of applicable Federal, State, DOE, Corporate and Plant rules, regulations, Labor Agreements and Plant-wide operating policies and procedures.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Required to attend and/or successfully complete training classes as determined by the Training and Development Technologies Department, through General Employee Training (Reference DOE Order 426.2), and Management.
Participates in worker involvement including input to work planning and methods to identify hazards and controls.
Understands a worker’s right to stop work when they feel their own or other’s personal safety is jeopardized.
Attends all required safety meetings and training. Offers suggestions on improvements to the work environment.

Skills and Minimum Qualifications
Must be able to perform all duties and functions outlined above.
Must meet initial employment requirements.

Must have a valid State Motor Vehicle Operator’s License.
All qualifications, work history, training, and education to be verified by direct contact with former employers and/or documented proof. Ability to perform the functions involved will be determined by comprehensive interview and background evaluation to the satisfaction of line management.
Each individual must have recent (within the last 3-year period) acceptable industrial experience in instrumentation and control or electronic equipment maintenance as noted below.
Three years’ experience in the maintenance and repair of similar instrument or electronic equipment as stated in the paragraph above plus an AA degree in Electronic Technology or Instrumentation and Control from an accredited college, or training equivalent to the two years (AA degree) college requirement gained by taking courses acceptable to crafts supervision from a recognized trade school (Military schools included).
