Job title: Pantry Coordinator

· Reports to: Operations Director

· Location: 2101 Leavenworth St

· Position type: Full time, 35-40 hours per week, hourly

Job description: The Pantry Coordinator will be responsible for all aspects of pantry operations and garden projects and work closely with the Pantry Manager. They will ensure the pantry has food, supplies, and enough volunteers to serve our neighbors with dignity and respect in a clean and orderly environment. Responsible for ensuring both food and hours meet the needs of our neighbors.

Roles and responsibilities:

Pantry Coordination

· Manage food ordering, organization, and distribution

· Coordination of food collection/pickup

· Effectively manage perishable food inventory to minimize waste, spoilage, and attracting pests

· Manage all pantry food donations, including management and logistics for major food drives and support of conference/parish food drives

· Manage and proper storage of client tracking (TEFAP form – required for USDA)

· Follow all necessary rules and regulations regarding food safety and documentation

· Follow all Food bank policies and ensure volunteer compliance with policies and trainings

· Manage trash, recycling, supplies and cleaning routines as well as inspections

· Network/collaborate with external organizations to continuously build relationships

· Diversify food sources and donors to meet the needs of our neighbors

· Track purchasing, donations, and data on food distributed

· Work with Director of Operations and Executive Director to implement and improve current pantry processes, offerings, and organization

· Collaborate with other SSVP programs and staff to better meet the needs of our neighbors

· Attend required meetings, trainings, and submit monthly report on area of work

· Other duties as assigned

Volunteer Coordination

· Field inquiries from and find placements for potential pantry volunteers

· Offer welcome and training (new & ongoing)

· Manage scheduling and substitutions, including assisting with use of any software (Volgistics)

· Assist with volunteer acknowledgement

Skills and Qualifications

· Experience in nonprofit work, food service, warehouse operations, social services, or related field preferred

· Demonstrated leadership potential and ability to supervise volunteers

· Strong organizational and communication skills

· Commitment to serving diverse populations with dignity and respect

· Ability to lift and move food inventory as needed

· Computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Suite and Pantry Management software

Essential Qualities

· Intermediate clerical skills

· Organized and detail-oriented

· Self-starter with the ability to work independently

· Ability to effectively multi-task

· Excellent communicator and problem solver

· Strong interpersonal skills

· Compassion, relationship building, negotiating skills

· Driver’s license, fork-lift certification preferred

Work Environment

· Shared office space; standing most of the time, moving, some heavy lifting (50 lbs), pushing and pulling (100 lbs), driving for food pickups, small machinery operation, computer work, phone calls, and meetings.

· Some local travel as needed

· Some evening/weekend availability for food drives, attend meetings/events as needed

Pay: $20.00 - $26.00 per hour
