Our client, a premier event and catering company, is seeking a talented and creative Head Catering Chef to lead their culinary team in Durham, North Carolina . This role requires a passion for food, exceptional leadership skills, and a proven ability to manage large-scale catering operations. You will be responsible for menu development, kitchen management, food quality control, and ensuring an unforgettable culinary experience for clients.

Key Responsibilities:
Develop innovative and diverse menus for a wide range of events, considering client preferences, dietary restrictions, and seasonal availability. Oversee all aspects of kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, plating, and presentation. Manage and mentor the catering kitchen staff, fostering a positive and productive work environment. Ensure adherence to the highest standards of food safety, sanitation, and hygiene (HACCP). Control food costs, manage inventory, and maintain accurate purchasing records. Collaborate with event planners and clients to understand event requirements and execute culinary visions. Supervise food production for events, ensuring timely delivery and exceptional quality. Maintain equipment and ensure the kitchen is clean, organized, and fully stocked. Continuously research culinary trends and incorporate new ideas into menus and offerings. Manage vendor relationships for ingredients and supplies. Conduct taste tests and quality control checks to guarantee customer satisfaction. Assist with staffing and training for event culinary teams.
Qualifications:
Culinary degree or equivalent professional experience. Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in high-volume catering or fine dining, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or leadership role. Extensive knowledge of diverse cuisines, cooking techniques, and presentation styles. Proven experience in menu development and cost management. Strong understanding of food safety regulations and sanitation practices. Excellent leadership, team management, and communication skills. Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple events simultaneously. Creative flair and a passion for delivering exceptional culinary experiences. Proficiency in inventory management and cost control. ServSafe certification or equivalent required.
