Qualifications:
- High school Diploma of GED equivalent
- Minimum of one year of experience in business, human services, and/or marketing preferred.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reporting directly to the Community Support Services Director, the Job Placement Specialist is required to perform the following duties:
- Provide and/or coordinate the provision of Habilitative/Rehabilitative services to The Arc individuals utilizing the agency’s approved case management procedures:
- Assist individuals of services in obtaining community and competitive employment, using a Person-Centered approach.
- Conduct interviews & soft skills clinics.
- Build and maintain positive and productive relationships with fellow agencies and stakeholders.
- Build and maintain positive and productive relationships with various community employers.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with individuals of services.
- Provide fellow Community Employment team members with adequate and appropriate information so that quality services may continue beyond the job placements specialist’s involvement.
- Utilize proper needs assessment, task analysis, interest inventories, work preparation, and labor market tools to determine appropriateness of job placements in all capacities.
- Coordinate and organize tasks to provide services in a timely manner.
i. Provide thorough and continuous documentation of all job placement activities.
j. Provide feedback to individuals and to all stakeholders.
k. Review and modify provision of services to meet the changing needs of individuals and employers served.
- Act as a liaison between the agency and all appropriate persons and/or agencies involved in the employee’s service programs always keeping lines of communication open. Areas of liaison shall include, but are not limited to sub-contract vendors, family members, residential support staff, guardians, referring/funding agencies, community employers, school support staff, insurance companies, social security offices, counselors, therapists, physicians, occupational therapists, physical therapists, etc.
- Act as individual advocate and work to improve quality of life by ensuring that the rights and safety of all individuals are recognized and protected.
- Provide verbal and/or written reports on progress of services to the Executive Director, Community Support Director, and or Community Employment Coordinator upon request.
- Participate in program planning activities to increase the autonomy of individuals served.
- Participate in fundraising activities.
- Carry an emergency phone on a rotating basis.
- Other duties as assigned.
