Mechanical Engineer - Entry Level

Position Overview

Lockheed Martin Space is seeking an early career Mechanical Engineer to start in summer 2026 at a facility with special access requirements. In this role, you will perform design, drafting, and stress analysis tasks on mechanical ground support equipment for spacecraft production and testing using 3D modeling and Finite Element Analysis. Must be a US Citizen.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform design, drafting, and stress analysis tasks for mechanical ground support equipment.
• Utilize 3D modeling and Finite Element Analysis tools (e.g., CREO, SolidWorks).
• Create and interpret engineering drawings.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to accommodate evolving requirements and dynamic project schedules.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and federal regulations (ANSI, OSHA, AWS, ASME Y14.5).

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Structural Engineering or a related field.
• Demonstrated understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals including structures, mechanisms, materials, and analysis.
• Proficient with engineering CAD tools or have stress analysis/Finite Element Analysis experience.
• Ability to read, interpret, and create engineering drawings.
• US Citizenship required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Ability to work in dynamic environments with evolving requirements.
• Strong oral, written, and presentation communication skills.
• Familiarity with industry standards and federal regulations.
• Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) and ASME Y14.5.
• Hands-on experience through project work, internships, or personal projects.

• Compensation: Annual base salary ranges from approximately $57,500 to $114,655 depending on location, with final figures based on experience, work location, and market considerations.
