Main role:

To lead the engineering and maintenance functions to ensure all factory assets, utilities, and infrastructure are safe, compliant, and capable of delivering stable, efficient, and reliable production. The Engineering Manager is accountable for asset care, equipment reliability, capital projects, and technical capability while supporting continuous improvement and long-term operational strategy.

ROLE AND ACTIVITY

  • Asset Safety, Compliance & Governance
  • Ensure all equipment, utilities, and infrastructure comply with relevant food, engineering, and safety regulations.
  • Maintain statutory inspections, contractor management, and safe systems of work.
  • Lead risk assessments, engineering controls, and technical documentation management.
  • Drive a culture of safety-first behaviours within the engineering team and across the site.
  • Maintenance & Reliability Management
  • Lead the maintenance team to deliver planned, preventive, and predictive maintenance.
  • Minimize unplanned downtime through effective asset care strategies.
  • Ensure real-time process control and monitoring systems are embedded; avoid reactive, after-the-event interventions.
  • Use structured root cause analysis (RCA) to eliminate recurring issues.
  • Capital Projects & Continuous Improvement
  • Lead development and execution of the annual capital plan, delivering projects on time, to budget, and to required standards.
  • Manage technical upgrades, line improvements, and major overhauls.
  • Support site transformation initiatives (capacity, automation, efficiency).
  • Use CI/Lean/TPM methodologies to improve performance.
  • Energy, Utilities & Infrastructure
  • Ensure reliable and efficient operation of refrigeration, compressed air, steam, water, HVAC, and electrical systems.
  • Drive energy efficiency, waste reduction, and sustainability initiatives aligned to ESG goals.
  • Maintain robust monitoring of utility consumption and performance.
  • Leadership & Team Development
  • Lead, coach, and develop engineering and maintenance teams to build high technical capability.
  • Ensure a strong pipeline of talent through skills training, succession planning, and performance management.
  • Build a culture of ownership, problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Cross Functional Partnership & Business Support

Technical Skills Deep understanding of food safety regulations (FDA, FSMA, GFSI frameworks).

Strong knowledge of manufacturing systems, maintenance processes, and process control.

Competent in data analysis, KPI management, and structured problem-solving.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Presence on the factory floor daily; highly visible leadership.

Flexibility to work extended hours or support off-shifts when needed.

Ability to represent the site during audits and senior leadership reviews
