Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Part Time HistoTech to join our MOHS Surgery team. This vital role involves supporting histological procedures and specimen preparation for skin cancer surgeries, ensuring accurate and timely diagnosis. As a HistoTech, you will work closely with surgeons, pathologists, and laboratory staff to facilitate precise tissue processing, slide preparation, and analysis.

Duties

  • Prepare tissue specimens through embedding, sectioning, staining, and mounting for microscopic examination in MOHS surgery cases
  • Assist with specimen collection and processing, ensuring proper labeling and documentation for traceability
  • Maintain strict adherence to aseptic techniques and laboratory safety protocols during all procedures
  • Operate and troubleshoot laboratory equipment such as microtomes, cryostats, stainers, and microscopes with precision
  • Collaborate with surgical teams to ensure timely delivery of high-quality slides for intraoperative decision-making
  • Document all procedures accurately in laboratory information systems while maintaining detailed records of specimen handling
  • Support research activities by preparing specimens for additional testing or analysis as needed
Experience
  • Prior clinical laboratory experience with histology or pathology laboratories is highly preferred
  • Experience working in a research laboratory setting is a plus, demonstrating familiarity with laboratory techniques and protocols
  • Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology enhances your ability to interpret specimens effectively
  • Hands-on experience with specimen collection and processing techniques such as phlebotomy or tissue biopsy handling is advantageous
  • Familiarity with hospital or outpatient surgical environments helps ensure smooth integration into our MOHS surgery team
  • Proficiency in laboratory procedures including staining, slide preparation, and quality control measures is essential
  • Strong understanding of vital signs monitoring and aseptic techniques supports safe laboratory practices
