The Unified Government of Wyandotte County AmeriCorps VISTA Program strengthens local capacity to improve economic opportunity for low-income and underserved residents. This position supports the Budget, Strategy, and Research Department by developing sustainable systems for data analysis, benchmarking, and public communication. The VISTA member will analyze local economic data to better understand conditions across smaller geographic areas, including building datasets, identifying alternative measures of poverty, and summarizing findings through tables and maps. These efforts will support more informed decision-making and resource allocation. The member will also support benchmarking efforts by researching best practices, reviewing existing datasets, and developing tools to compare local budget and performance measures with similar communities. In addition, the VISTA will assist in creating materials that explain the budget process and share information with the public through digital platforms. The VISTA will also contribute to developing systems for performance measurement, helping departments track services and outcomes. By strengthening data systems, improving transparency, and enhancing communication, this project will increase understanding of government processes and support more effective delivery of services. These efforts will help connect residents to resources and opportunities that support economic stability.

Member Duties : The AmeriCorps VISTA member will develop and support systems for analyzing economic data, benchmarking, and budget communication. The member will build datasets, research alternative measures, and create tables and maps to summarize findings. They will assist in developing benchmarking tools and processes to compare local data with other communities. The VISTA will also help create public-facing materials that explain the budget process and improve access to information. Additionally, they will support development of performance measurement tools that track services and outcomes. These efforts will strengthen data systems and improve understanding of government services for underserved residents.
