Job Description
Essential Functions of Role: This is “hands on” non-production operation role. Meeting USDA, HACCP, GMFP, OSHA and Company standards, and under the supervision of the Facilities Maintenance Manager. Responsible for performing preventative maintenance, emergency repairs, rebuilds and projects on all plant equipment in a safe and efficient manner. ACCOUNTABLE FOR: Performing preventative maintenance on plant equipment in a timely, thorough, and efficient manner. Responding to breakdown calls in a professional, safe, and timely manner. (Down equipment takes priority over all other responsibilities). Track truck & trailer status in accordance with DOT regulations and company rules. Tracking parts usage and order replacement parts as needed within specified budget. Managing contracted projects from start to finish. Qualifications: Qualified candidates must possess the following: 5 years' experience in truck and facilities maintenance and/or automotive experience. WILLING TO TRAIN Good verbal and written communication skills. Basic computer skills. Must be able to wear personal protective equipment as required for job role. Protective Eye Wear Ear Plugs Hard Hat Hair Net Protective Coat (clothing protector) Impervious Boots / Shoes Key Measurable Results: Mechanical Uptime Safety Performance Self-Improvement Physical Qualifications: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Must be able to physically perform the essential functions of the role as outlined. Must be able to twist, bend, reach, and sit for 8 hours or the duration of the shift, in a wet cold environment. Must be able to get underneath or mount equipment ranging from below grade (below floor level) up to 17 feet and in a space of 2’x 2’or larger to perform repairs and inspections. Must be able to physically perform equipment repairs in a slippery/uneven environment which includes but is not limited to slopped flooring, pitched flooring, steps throughout work areas, etc. Must be able to lift, tighten (“torque”) equipment up to approximately 70 pounds. Must be able to safely & efficiently make machine / equipment repairs in a seriously demanding, challenging, fast-paced, high pressure and tense atmosphere. D****esired Attributes: Experience with maintenance of a Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulation program and Michigan Transportation Guide. Automotive maintenance experience is acceptable and will train the right candidate. Good verbal and written communication skills. Basic computer skills. Documenting/Recording Information - Entering, transcribing, recording, storing, or maintaining information in written or electronic/magnetic form.
