TITLE: Teacher QUALIFICATIONS : Must hold a bachelor's degree and hold or be eligible for a Maryland teaching license. Demonstrate knowledge of current instructional and curricular methods. Possess the ability to relate well with students, parents and other staff. Additional certification requirements as set by the M.S.D.E. or Board of Education. Such alternates and additions to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable. REPORTS TO : Principal JOB GOAL : To help students learn subject matter and/or skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible men and women. To provide students with skills and knowledge commensurate with their ability and to provide all students with the opportunity to successfully obtain a valid high schools diploma based upon criteria established by the local and state boards of education. ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES : Meets and instructs assigned classes in the location and at the times designated. Prepares for classes assigned, and shows written evidence (lesson plans) of preparation upon request of principal, principal's designee, or curriculum coordinator. Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved. Strives to implement by instruction and action the board's philosophy of education. Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
