Job Description
2026-27 School year - 5th Grade Teacher at Centennial Elementary School for Scio School District 95C Min - Max Salary - $46,380.50 - $81,861.58 (based on experience) Scio pays PERS POSITION TITLE Classroom Teacher REPORTS TO Building Principal POSITION SUMMARY Provides instruction and support to students in alignment with district curriculum, standards, and goals. Creates a positive and engaging learning environment that promotes student achievement, growth, and well-being. Collaborates with staff, students, and families to support academic success and social-emotional development. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Plan and deliver instruction aligned with district curriculum, standards, and student learning objectives. Develop and implement lesson plans that meet the diverse academic, behavioral, and developmental needs of students. Assess student learning using a variety of formal and informal methods and adjust instruction accordingly. Maintain accurate and timely student records, including grades, attendance, and required documentation. Create a positive, inclusive, and safe classroom environment that promotes student engagement and respect. Implement effective classroom management and behavior support strategies. Communicate regularly with students, families, and staff regarding student progress and needs. Collaborate with teachers, specialists, and support staff to support student success. Implement accommodations, modifications, and services identified in Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), 504 plans, or other student support plans as applicable. Integrate technology and instructional resources to enhance student learning. Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and district initiatives. Maintain confidentiality of student records and school-related information in accordance with district policy and privacy laws. Act as a mandatory reporter and immediately report suspected child abuse or neglect in accordance with state law and district procedures. Follow district policies, safety procedures, and applicable federal, state, and local laws. Perform other related duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS Required Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution. Hold, or be eligible to obtain, a valid Oregon Teaching License with appropriate endorsement(s). Ability to perform the essential duties of the position with or without reasonable accommodation. Strong communication, collaboration, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Ability to pass required background and fingerprint checks. Ability to successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening (UA test) if required by the district. Preferred Previous teaching experience in assigned subject area or grade level. Knowledge of instructional strategies, assessment practices, and classroom management techniques. Experience working with diverse student populations. WORKING CONDITIONS School environment with frequent interaction with students and staff. Requires standing, walking, and classroom movement throughout the day. May include indoor and outdoor supervision and responding to student behavioral or emotional needs. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT Work year, wages, hours, and benefits are governed by the applicable licensed collective bargaining agreement. Continued employment is contingent upon successful background and fingerprint clearance, passing any required pre-employment drug screening, and maintenance of required licensure.
