8th Grade Language Arts Teacher

Overview We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Eighth Grade English Language Arts Teacher to join our educational team for the 2026-2027 school year. Essential Functions Teach English to 8th Graders Prepare and deliver presentations on topics such as poetry, novel structure, grammar and usage, and effective writing styles Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet students' varying needs and interests Initiate, facilitate and moderate classroom discussions Establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects and communicate those objectives to students Prepare course materials such as plans, homework assignments, and handouts Prepare, administer, and grade tests, papers and other assignments in order to evaluate students' progress Maintain students attendance records, grades and other required records Communicate professionally with parents and colleagues Manage classroom behavior to ensure a conducive learning environment Physical Requirements Works in a fast paced environment dealing with a wide variety of challenges and deadlines Ability to occasionally lift up to 30 lbs Works primarily in a traditional climate-controlled classroom environment Works intermittently in outside weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold Waldron Mercy Academy is an equal-opportunity employer
