Position Overview: The Accountant is responsible for executing the accounting function for numerous agency programs, including expense allocations and budget development. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Monitors income and expenses in compliance with funding source regulations and budgets. Reviews / codes accounts payable and payroll transactions to ensure proper allocation of costs and use of budgets. Prepares invoices to funding sources including assembling of required backup documentation. Works with wide variety of agency staff (Chief Financial Officer, Fiscal Director, planning department, program management) to develop budgets for existing and proposed programs. Ensures budgets for programs are properly maintained in the accounting software. Provides needed financial information to program management including budget versus actual reports, and projections. Presents such analysis to shareholders, often online. Interfaces with programs and funding sources in connection with monitoring visits. Participates in year-end closing process, including interfacing with outside auditing firm and preparation of audit schedules as required. Works
