JOB PURPOSE:To perform Cashier duties for the Pojoaque True Value and provide quality customer service.This is a full-time position Essential Functions:Prepares sales slip or sales contract.Reviews price sheets to note price changes and sales items.Obtains credit authorization on charge purchases.Receives payment or obtains credit authorization.Balances cash received with cash sales.Bags or boxes merchandise for the customer.May assist with display and visual presentation of merchandise.Stocking:Stocks shelves, counters, or tables with merchandise.Stamps, marks, or tags prices on merchandise.Cleans shelves, counters or tables.Assists with the annual inventory.Other duties as assigned REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES):Must be at least 18 years of age or older Good skills in retail sales and merchandising (or the willingness to learn).Good verbal and written communication skills.Ability to handle a variety of customer requests and personalities.Must be people-oriented, have a good attitude, and be open-minded.Skills in handling money and using cash register, calculator, and computer.Basic math and reading skills.Knowledge of retail hardware, identification and application of power and hand tools, paints and chemicals.REQUIRED EDUCATION OR COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND Experience:High school Diploma or GED (6) months retail hardware sales Basic computer skills preferred PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:Standing-50% /Walking-50% /Sitting-0%; Store setting.Lifting and carrying up to 75 lbs.With assistance.Exposure to some cleaning chemicals.Some exposure to paint and chemical fumes Required to work weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed DISCLAIMER STATEMENT:This job description lists the major duties and responsibilities required of the employee.An employee to perform tasks other than those listed to meet business needs..
