FTS, in collaboration with a leading client in the Employee Benefits Industry, is seeking a talented and motivated Actuarial Director to join their in-house team. In this role, you'll serve as a strategic advisor to large employer clients on complex health and benefits initiatives. This role focuses heavily on self-funded health plans, healthcare cost strategy, stop-loss optimization, trend analysis, pharmacy spend, and plan design consulting for large, sophisticated organizations. The Actuarial Director will partner directly with executive stakeholders — including CFOs, CHROs, and HR leadership — to provide financial guidance, lead strategic discussions, and help clients make informed decisions around their healthcare and benefits programs. This position is highly consultative and client-facing, requiring a blend of actuarial expertise, executive communication skills, and leadership capability. The individual will independently lead client engagements, present complex financial insights in a clear and actionable way, oversee supporting analysts and actuarial staff, and contribute to the broader growth and direction of the consulting organization. The ideal candidate brings deep large-market health and benefits experience, strong business acumen, and an entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to think beyond traditional actuarial modeling. This is a FULLY REMOTE role *Only U.S. Citizens and Green Card Holders are eligible currently Essential Duties/Responsibilities: Serve as the lead financial and strategic advisor for large, complex employer health and benefits clients, primarily within the self-funded space Develop and present financial analyses, forecasting models, and strategic recommendations related to healthcare costs, plan performance, utilization trends, stop-loss, and funding strategy Lead client meetings and executive-level discussions, translating complex actuarial and financial concepts into clear business recommendations for CFOs, CHROs, HR leaders, and other stakeholders Oversee actuarial studies, benchmarking analyses, renewal evaluations, and broader healthcare cost management initiatives Drive development of client deliverables, ensuring accuracy, quality, and timely execution across multiple concurrent engagements Partner cross-functionally with consultants, analysts, underwriting teams, and leadership to support broader client strategy and business objectives Provide mentorship, guidance, and oversight to actuarial and analytics team members, helping develop technical and consulting capabilities across the team Contribute to business development efforts, client growth initiatives, and the continued evolution of the organization’s financial consulting strategy and capabilities Help shape internal methodologies, analytical approaches, and market perspectives related to healthcare trends, alternative funding strategies, pharmacy management, and emerging industry developments Participate in leadership responsibilities including team development, performance management, hiring, and fostering a collaborative, high-performing consulting environment Qualifications/Skills: Strong actuarial, financial modeling, and data analytics capabilities within the employer health and benefits space Deep understanding of self-funded health plans, medical stop-loss, reinsurance structures, healthcare cost drivers, and ancillary benefit programs Proven ability to serve as a strategic consultant and trusted advisor to executive-level client stakeholders Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to simplify complex financial concepts into actionable business recommendations Demonstrated success leading large, complex client engagements and managing multiple priorities simultaneously Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities with a consultative, solutions-oriented mindset Experience leading client presentations, facilitating strategic discussions, and influencing decision-making across cross-functional groups Ability to operate independently while also collaborating effectively with consulting, analytics, and leadership teams Leadership experience mentoring, developing, and guiding actuarial or analytical staff Forward-thinking perspective on healthcare trends, funding strategies, pharmacy management, cost containment, and evolving market dynamics Education, Training, and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Finance, Economics, or a related quantitative discipline ASA or FSA designation strongly preferred 8+ years of actuarial and/or hea
