Addiction Medicine Provider (NP|PA) Position Description Position Title: Addiction Medicine Provider (NP or PA) Status: Full-Time | Hourly Location: Hybrid home office/clinic model. Locations: Rapid City, SD and Sioux Falls, SD Pay Range: $60-$70/hr based on experience and credentials About Us | WhyThis Role Matters At Project Recovery, we know that access to compassionate, evidence-based substance use disorder care saves lives. The addiction medicine nurse practitioner or physician assistant is central to delivering low-threshold, person-first treatment for substance use disorders—meeting people where they are and supporting meaningful, sustainable change. In this role, you will help remove barriers to care, expand access to life-saving medications, and contribute to a model of care grounded in dignity, safety, and real-world impact. Key Responsibilities Mindset Embrace and actualize a harm-reduction, person-first, chronic disease philosophy of care and growth mindset in the diagnosis and compassionate treatment of substance use disorders. Clinical Assessment, Diagnosis, and Treatment Perform thorough clinical assessments evaluating individuals for substance use disorders. Diagnose substance use disorders; develop individualized treatment plans based on clinical findings. Provide evidence-based, comprehensive care in treating substance use disorders. Prescribe and manage medications for substance use disorders. Monitor and adjust medication regimens and treatment plans based on patient response and progress toward individual goals. Offer appropriate referrals to primary care, specialty practice, counseling, and other healthcare/social support services to connect individuals with whole person care. Prioritize patient safety with treatment planning and prescribing practices. Education, Prevention, and Motivational Interviewing Educate patients and their families on the chronic disease model of addiction, treatment options, risk reduction, and return to use prevention strategies. Use motivational interviewing to enhance intrinsic motivation for change, resolve ambivalence, explore individual goals, and build self-efficacy. Collaboration and Communication Engage in collaborative care efforts with internal departments and stakeholders to elevate patient care and better clinical outcomes. Maintain effective communication with internal and external parties. Actively participate in staff meetings and clinical discussions. Documentation and Compliance Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in compliance with clinic and regulatory standards. Adhere to ethical and legal guidelines in the provision of addiction medicine services. Professional Responsibilities Maintain all professional licensure, certifications, and CME requirements outlined by your professional organizations and states of licensure. Stay current with developments in addiction medicine/evidence-based practices.
