Job Description
JOB Position SummaryAssists with the administrative functions of the County Clerk’s Office. Fills in for the Jury Coordinator as needed and provides a wide range of clerical support. Schedule is 29 hours per week: Monday - Friday, 8 am to 2 pm (8 to 1 on Thursdays). Benefit eligible date of hire! Responds to mail, phone, and in-person requests from prospective jurors, attorneys, employers, and other stakeholders regarding the jury process and State Statutes.2. Assists with the preparation and mailing of Qualification Questionnaires to prospective jurors.3. Processes juror requests for postponement and excuses according to the State Statute.4. Assists with the preparation of juror vouchers for jury service and mileage reimbursement. Pays jurors and balances the cash drawer as required.5. Assembles and provides orientation for jurors and prepares courtroom paperwork as needed.6. Provides administrative support tasks including data entry, file maintenance and retention, updating spreadsheets and generating reports, answering phones, processing mail, and responding to public inquiries.7. Serves as the backup for the Jury Coordinator.8. Provide administrative support to Clerk administration, such as conducting research, coordinating meetings, provides project assistance, and general administrative support.9. Responds to operational and procedural questions of staff and others related to assigned areas.10. Assists with some of the more complex and difficult functions of the assigned division(s).QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS REQUIRED: Education: Associates Degree with advanced coursework in business and/or public relations. A combination of courses and experience may be considered for the educationExperience: One – two years of experience in business, preferably in a legal or court setting, providing familiarity with legal terminology and the processing of court cases. Experience in data entry and window based computer programs.Other Requirements: Relevant Skills/Specialized Equipment Knowledge: Basic office equipment such as telephone, calculator, photocopier, scanner, fax, etc. Photographic, audio and video equipment. Computer programs including word processing, spreadsheets, and database entry and maintenance. Ability to effectively communicate with individuals from a wide variety of socio-economic, ethnic and cultural backgrounds. Ability to assess situations, solve problems, work effectively under stress, within deadlines, and in emergency situations.
