Job Description
GRADE 11 LOCATION OF POSITION MDH, Carroll County Health Department Westminster, MD 21157 Main Purpose of Job The main purpose of this position is to perform administrative work at the full performance level, requiring the regular use of independent judgment and analysis to apply and interpret rules and regulations in accordance with agency laws and policies with a focus on vision and hearing screening activities and Maternal Child Health (MCH) administrative functions for the Carroll County Health Department. This position will not supervise staff but may provide guidance and support to lower-level vision and hearing screening staff. Minimum Qualifications Education : Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate. Experience : One year of experience performing administrative staff, clerical, clerical technical, or secretarial work. Notes Candidates may substitute 30 credit hours from an accredited college or university for the required experience. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer involving staff work requiring regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting rules and regulations in accordance with agency laws and policies on a year-for-year basis for the required experience. Desired Or Preferred Qualifications The desired candidate should possess the following: 1. Bilingual in Spanish and English (writing and speaking). 2. Experience conducting hearing and vision screenings. 3. Experience working with school-aged children. 4. Experience scheduling and managing follow-up correspondence, preferably in a medical or school setting. 5. Experience with data entry, report preparation, budget tracking and/or ordering and maintaining supplies. Special Requirements Candidates may be responsible for providing their own transportation as needed to access meetings, remote locations, and job destinations as assigned.
