Job Description
Join our dynamic team as a Data Analyst / BI Developer (Power BI) where you will play a crucial role in supporting the Surgical Transformation & Program Management Office (TPMO) Process Excellence team within the R&D function. This virtual position, based in MN, offers the flexibility to work remotely while contributing to projects that enhance decision-making and execution across R&D and adjacent business processes. Responsibilities Publish and maintain Power BI dashboards, reports, and semantic models supporting a wide range of R&D and adjacent business processes. Standardize KPI and metric definitions in partnership with stakeholders; document definitions and ensure consistent implementation across reporting assets. Develop and maintain core semantic data models (e.g., shared datasets) serving multiple stakeholders and business domains; apply best practices for star schema / dimensional modeling. Build and optimize DAX measures and Power Query (M) transformations; apply repeatable patterns to improve maintainability and reduce rework. Improve report and dataflow performance, reduce manual reporting effort, and enhance reliability through troubleshooting and tuning. Support workspace/app refresh monitoring, troubleshooting, and production support activities. Interface primarily with Process Excellence Reporting & Analytics team members on technical and report development tasks; operate effectively in a team development environment. May work directly with domain SMEs to define metrics, validate results, and resolve data issues; perform data validation and reconciliation as needed. Act as a curious, self-starting learner who engages the broader data analyst community to understand data availability and access across pan-organizational data sources. Participate in collaborative development practices, including basic version control and peer review workflows. Other responsibilities, as required and assigned. QualificationsMust Haves Bachelor’s degree with 2 years of job-related experience OR Master’s degree with 0 years of job-related experience. 2 years of data modeling and Power BI development experience. Nice to Haves Demonstrated experience working in a medical device or regulated environment. Experience partnering with stakeholders to translate requirements into analytics deliverables. Ability to learn and adapt to changes in technology, processes, or requirements. Solid collaboration and communication skills. Proven ability to multi-task and shift priorities effectively. Excellent interpersonal skills for communicating with stakeholders under deadline pressure. Technical SkillsPower BI / BI Engineering Experience applying star schema / dimensional modeling in production semantic models. Working knowledge of report publishing/maintenance practices. Familiarity with RLS concepts and secure design patterns. Basic performance tuning experience. Experience with shared dataset management and multi-stakeholder semantic model design. Intermediate SQL / Snowflake Familiarity with CTEs and window functions. Experience building or partnering on curated views/tables designed for BI consumption. Experience writing data validation and reconciliation queries. Microsoft Power Platform Power Automate for scheduled notifications, refresh/alert workflows, and approvals. Power Apps for lightweight data capture, issue tracking, and intake forms. SharePoint Lists familiarity.
