In this role you will work a hybrid work model. Position Overview The Advanced EPLAN Designer is a key contributor within interdisciplinary project teams supporting industrial logistics and automotive manufacturing environments. This role is responsible for modifying and optimizing electrical hardware designs for new and existing systems. Working closely with the Lead Hardware Engineer and/or Project Manager, the Advanced EPLAN Designer ensures accurate, complete, and build-ready electrical documentation to support efficient manufacturing, installation, and commissioning activities. This position requires strong technical execution skills in EPLAN, experience within automotive standards, and the ability to improve engineering efficiency through automation tools such as macros, scripting, and add-ins. Key Responsibilities Develop complete electrical drawing packages for equipment and machinery from concept through release, using both customer standards and internal templates Design control systems utilizing EPLAN (primary) and electrical/pneumatic/hydraulic schematics Ensure hardware design completeness prior to release, minimizing debug and rework during build and commissioning phases Generate layouts, terminal plans, reports, labels, and supporting documentation Create and maintain accurate Bills of Materials (BOM), adhering to customer specifications and documenting approved deviations Update existing electrical drawings to reflect as-built/redline conditions and system modifications Support installation, integration, and commissioning phases as needed Collaborate effectively with Project Managers, Controls Engineers, and cross-functional teams to maintain project flow and timelines Develop and implement methods to improve engineering efficiency (macros, templates, add-ins, process improvements) Required Knowledge, Skills, Education, And Experience Degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, similar degree from an accredited university or 5 years + of EPLAN experience in a related electrical field Working knowledge of electrical design standards and safety codes Proficiency with CAD software with foundational knowledge of EPLAN Experience with network design and installation requirements Ability to adapt quickly to design changes in a fast-paced project environment Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, Outlook) Willingness to travel approximately 10% to customer locations or job sites Proficiency in English both written and verbal **Work Authorization: Qualified applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States and must not require employer sponsorship now or in the future.** Preferred Qualifications Advanced EPLAN experience Automotive industry experience Experience interpreting and drafting low-voltage power distribution and PLC control systems Strong communication and collaboration skills Highly detail-oriented with strong organizational skills Ability to properly size electrical systems and components Familiarity with automotive standards such as Volkswagen VASS, BMW TMO, or Mercedes-Benz Integra Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify issues and propose practical solutions About Siemens: We are a global technology company focused on industry, infrastructure, transport, and healthcare.
