Advanced Quality Engineer (AQE) Location Goodyear, Arizona | On-Site Employment Type Full-Time | Exempt Position Summary The Advanced Quality Engineer (AQE) supports New Product Introduction (NPI) by ensuring quality is designed and built into products and processes from concept through production launch. This role partners closely with Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain to deliver high-quality, scalable solutions. This position requires hands-on experience with both mechanical and electrical systems, along with a strong understanding of manufacturing processes, quality planning, and problem-solving methodologies. Key Responsibilities New Product Introduction (NPI) Lead quality activities for NPI programs from design through launch Participate in design reviews and provide Design for Quality (DFQ) input Support Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) Develop core APQP deliverables (PFMEA, Control Plans, Process Flows) Support prototype builds, pilot runs, and production readiness Identify and mitigate quality risks during development Mechanical & Electrical Quality Review mechanical drawings and electrical schematics Validate product requirements (fit, form, function) Support quality for Mechanical fabrication (sheet metal, weldments, machining) Electrical assemblies (panels, wiring, power systems) Assist in development of inspection methods, fixtures, and test plans APQP & Launch Readiness Lead APQP execution and documentation Support PPAP submissions when required Define inspection and validation strategies Ensure manufacturing readiness prior to launch Supplier Quality Partner with suppliers during NPI and production Support supplier qualification and capability assessments Drive corrective actions and ensure compliance to specifications Problem Solving & Continuous Improvement Lead root cause analysis (8D, 5 Why) Drive corrective and preventive actions Support continuous improvement initiatives to reduce defects and waste Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or related) 5+ years of experience in Quality Engineering or NPI Quality Experience supporting both mechanical and electrical products Strong understanding of APQP, PFMEA, and Control Plans Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics Experience in a manufacturing environment Preferred Experience with modular systems or power distribution equipment Supplier quality experience Six Sigma or Lean certification Experience with high-mix, low-volume manufacturing Skills APQP / PPAP Root Cause Analysis GD&T (preferred) Quality Systems & Inspection Methods Cross-functional collaboration Work Environment On-site manufacturing environment Must be able to travel 100% at short notice Hands-on support on production floor Occasional supplier interaction or travel About GTI Energy GTI Energy designs and manufactures modular systems for energy, industrial, and infrastructure applications.
