Job Description
Join a dedicated healthcare team in the heart of the Midwest as an Advanced Surgical First Assistant. This role involves collaborating closely with anesthesia providers, surgeons, and surgical staff to deliver exceptional patient care before, during, and after surgical procedures. General Summary The Surgical First Assistant is a skilled professional who applies sterile techniques and specialized equipment to assist in surgeries. You will ensure proper setup of surgical cases, anticipate the needs of the surgical team, and maintain a safe and efficient operating environment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Prepare surgical cases accurately using physician preference cards and appropriate instruments. Apply medical knowledge of anatomy and physiology to support surgical procedures. Maintain aseptic technique and demonstrate dexterity to anticipate and meet surgical team needs. Operate sterilization equipment following established protocols. Monitor and manage implantable devices with sterile technique and ensure proper function. Inspect and prepare surgical equipment prior to procedures. Assist in patient positioning under physician guidance to ensure safety and optimal access. Provide clear visualization of the operative site and assist with hemostasis and closure techniques. Apply wound dressings as directed by the surgeon. Work independently while maintaining accountability, adaptability, and focus under pressure. Maintain organized, clean, and efficient workspaces and manage time effectively. Perform delegated tasks to uphold quality and patient safety under surgeon supervision. Education Graduation from an accredited Surgical Technologist program is required. Experience Previous experience as a Surgical Technologist or Surgical Nurse is preferred but not
