BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES Plays a pivotal role in shaping and executing credit union advocacy strategies, ensuring that the interests of our members are represented at local, regional, and national levels. Fosters the growth and development of the Credit Union young professionals through advocacy, engagement, development, and outreach initiatives. Supports efforts to educate staff, members, and community partners on the credit union movement, cooperative principles, and the credit union difference. TYPICAL DUTIES Assists with the development and implementation of advocacy strategies to advance the credit union's goals and objectives. Assists in drafting advocacy materials such as talking points, letters of support, and official correspondence to state and federal lawmakers on behalf of credit union. Collaborates with community organizations, non-profits, and other stakeholders to enhance the credit union's presence and influence in the community. Participates in meetings with elected officials (or their staff) at the state and federal level to represent the credit union's advocacy priorities, share relevant data/community impact, and request support or action. Organizes and participates in events to raise awareness of the credit union's advocacy efforts and foster community engagement. Identifies and cultivates partnerships with like-minded organizations and industry associations to amplify the credit union's advocacy initiatives. Works collaboratively with internal teams and external partners to build effective coalitions that support shared advocacy goals. Develops and implements programs to educate credit union members and employees on legislative and regulatory issues affecting their financial well-being. Works closely with internal teams, including communications, human resources, training and leadership, to ensure promotion and alignment of the Young Professionals Program with overall organizational objectives. Cultivates relationships with young professionals both within and outside the credit union. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of program initiatives through data analysis. Develops strategies to increase and maintain engagement through member recruitment, retention, and consistent communication. Provides mentorship, guidance and support to YP Program Advisors, helping them develop leadership skills and effectively engage young professionals. Works closely with other credit union departments to integrate young professionals into the broader credit union community. Creates and manages a comprehensive calendar of events and activities that support the young professional's advocacy, professional development, networking, and outreach priorities. Collaborates with community and credit union organizations to create awareness and engagement opportunities for potential young professionals. Organizes and facilitates networking events, conferences, and forums that connect young professionals with industry leaders, fostering meaningful connections and mentorship opportunities. Maintain and understand compliance to ensure that work complies with GECU's established policies, procedures and applicable regulations, to include Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Anti-Money Laundering Act (AML) addressing Money Laundering and the Countering the Financing of Terrorism (CFT), Member Identification Program (MIP), and Office of Foreign Asset Control (OFAC). Other duties may be assigned or required in connection with the general operation of the credit union. Requirements CRITICAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS Bachelor's Degree in Business, Communications, Political Science or a related field with an emphasis on writing skills and 1 to 2 years of experience in advocacy with a focus on the credit union movement. Experience and understanding in general business, financial services & policies and legislative processes. Ability to effectively review, resolve and /or recommend solutions regarding moderate to complex problems or issues. Knowledge of financial regulations, legislative processes, and the credit union movement. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and engage a variety of stakeholders. Strong strategic thinking and analytical abilities. Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain partnerships with internal and external stakeholders. Willingness to travel to conferences organized by industry trade organizatio
