Summary Serves as an Aerospace Engineer involved with managing space and aeronautical flight systems, vehicles, and/or payloads, including design, development, testing, and operations. As part of NASA Force , you will tackle mission-critical challenges, working across disciplines to advance NASA's exploration, research, and technology priorities, contributing to high-impact projects that support human spaceflight and scientific discovery. Work will vary by Center's role and mission responsibilities. Investigates phenomena encountered in aerospace flight, monitoring and analyzing unknown or unfamiliar aerospace vehicles, piloting aerospace vehicles, and/or developing aviation safety standards and regulations. Develops, tests, evaluates, researches, operates, maintains, remodels, and/or decommissions aircraft and/or spacecraft. Performs multiple functions such as planning, research, design, development, test and evaluation, cost analyses, program and project management. Conducts specialized studies on flight vehicles, which may include overall and individual major systems components, and additional airborne equipment encompassed in the structure, to ensure their safety, suitability, and effectiveness in operation. Works alongside internal/external aerospace engineers to incorporate new technologies, improve reliability, extend the life of an aerospace vehicle, and/or reduce total ownership costs, as needed. Tracks contractor and team member progress against project plans, ensuring all work meets quality standards and complies with contractual requirements where applicable.
