Job Description
SUMMARY We are currently hiring for the 2026–2027 school year. Training will begin in June, with regular program hours starting in August 2026. The Fashion & Jewelry Design Instructor leads engaging, hands-on enrichment classes for students in TK–Middle School using a developmentally differentiated curriculum and provided training. Instructors create a fun, supportive, and creative learning environment where students explore fashion design, jewelry making, textiles, wearable art, and creative expression through interactive design experiences. Students are encouraged to express their individuality and creativity through fashion and jewelry projects while developing fine motor skills, problem-solving abilities, confidence, and artistic design techniques. Through hands-on activities, students learn how fashion and jewelry can serve as forms of self-expression, storytelling, and functional art. The instructor guides students through age-appropriate projects that progressively build creativity, independence, collaboration, design thinking, and presentation skills. Key Responsibilities Teach and lead hands-on fashion and jewelry design enrichment classes using provided curriculum, lesson plans, and training Facilitate age-appropriate activities involving fashion illustration, jewelry making, sewing, wearable art, accessory creation, and textile-based projects Encourage creativity and artistic expression through color, texture, pattern, styling, and design Teach foundational and advanced design concepts including patterning, assembling, sketching, stitching, material selection, and presentation Create a safe, engaging, and positive classroom environment that promotes confidence and collaboration Prepare materials, supplies, and classroom setups before each class Support students through the creative design process, from brainstorming and planning to construction and presentation Adapt instruction to support varying grade levels, learning styles, and developmental needs Lead collaborative projects, student showcases, mini runway presentations, and marketplace-style experiences Maintain organized and clean workspaces while ensuring safe use of tools and materials Communicate professionally with staff, school partners, and families Curriculum & Program Focus The Fashion & Jewelry Design program uses a developmentally differentiated curriculum designed to progressively build artistic creativity, technical design skills, confidence, and self-expression across grade levels. TK–2nd Grade Students explore fashion and jewelry design through sensory play, imaginative projects, and guided hands-on activities such as decorating accessories, creating simple wearable art, designing outfits with collage materials, and making beaded jewelry projects. 3rd–5th Grade Students build foundational design skills through sewing projects, jewelry construction, fashion sketching, upcycling activities, accessory design, and collaborative creative experiences that encourage greater independence and design thinking. Middle School Middle school students develop advanced creative and technical skills through fashion illustration, hand sewing and introductory machine sewing concepts, jewelry construction techniques, branding concepts, wearable collections, styling, and entrepreneurship-focused design projects. Students explore fashion as both an artistic and business industry while developing leadership, presentation, and creative problem-solving skills.
