Job Description
Preschool Teacher Spanish Immersion Program The Cambridge-Ellis School, Cambridge, MA is seeking a Preschool Teacher for our Spanish Immersion classroom for the 2026-27 school year.The ideal candidate is native Spanish speaking and has strong English skills.Candidates with C2 level fluency in Spanish will also be considered.Please note that this is an anticipated opening for the 26-27 school year.If the classroom teacher role does not become available, this role would transition to a Floating Teacher role in our Language Program with a focus on providing coverage and support to our Spanish classrooms, as well as our French, Mandarin, and toddler classrooms as needed.Work Hours:Mon-Fri from 12:30-6pm Mondays from 7-8pm for staff meetings (via zoom) Participate in out of school hours events as described in the Employee Handbook Salary Range:$40,000 - $44,000 (Hourly equivalent of $33-36 per hour) Opportunity to work in our 4-week summer program for additional compensation.Possibility to add additional morning hours in future years.Schedule/Classroom Format:The Language Program is from 3-6 pm, Monday - Friday.Most of our classrooms have 2 teachers and 14 students, ages 3-6 years old.These classrooms are mixed age and mixed level, allowing for peer learning.Strong classroom relationships form over multiple years, as many children return to the program for 2-3 years.Our Language Program includes French, Spanish, and Mandarin immersion classes.We are a school year program; children remain in the same language class for the full school year (September - June).Our Language classrooms follow an immersion model; teachers aim to speak to the children 90-100% of the time in the Target Language.Teachers develop their own curriculum, which is play-based and designed around student interests.Classrooms are shared equally and collaboratively between our Day Program (8:30 am - 3 pm) and our Language Program (3-6 pm) From 12:30-2:30 pm, Language Program teachers may provide lunch and meeting coverage in our Day Program Classrooms, as well as have their own team meetings and preparation time out of the classroom.Our Community:We believe that a child's work is play; We offer a child centered approach with an emphasis on emergent curriculum We believe that the school's foundation is its highly trained teachers and staff, innovative curriculum, commitment to parent involvement, and dedication to a diverse community We strive for an unwavering commitment to the work of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Justice; We acknowledge that we are a work in progress and that seeking equity is ongoing work We believe that a strong connection with nature and outdoor learning are essential components of a child's development and building blocks of our social justice work Role and Responsibilities:All teachers are considered models of best practice in early childhood education, and are responsible for furthering their own learning and professional growth with the support of the school Responsible for supporting team development and implementation of room design, set up, curriculum planning, and documentation Provide and supervise activities that promote healthy social, emotional, intellectual, and physical development of each child Engage collaboratively in weekly team planning meetings and staff meetings Provide coverage in Day Program classrooms for lunch breaks and team meetings Goals of this Position:Design child centered curriculum that addresses topics of social justice, environmental conservation, and community engagement Work collaboratively on school committees to further the growth and advancement of our school community To apply, please send your resume and cover letter to the attention of the Language Program Director, Elisabeth Guenette.Job Type:Part-time Pay:$40,000.00 - $44,000.00 per year Benefits:401(k) 401(k) matching Dental insurance Flexible spending account Health insurance Paid time off Professional development assistance Vision insurance Experience:Teaching:1 year (Preferred) Language:Spanish (Required) English (Required) Ability to Commute:Cambridge, MA 02138 (Required) Work Location:In person.
