Job Description
Description 1. Requirements: Applicant must possess a Colorado Teaching License endorsed in Agricultural and Renewable Natural Resource Education, a CTE Certificate or be enrolled in an alternative licensing program Instructional Program: The teacher will conduct an instructional program according to the Board of Education requirements and state program approval including: Lesson plans prepared according to district policy Implementation of effective instructional strategies and materials Basic skills and abilities of students be developed in the lab classroom FFA/Leadership Development FFA is an integral part of the instructional program. The teacher will serve as the advisor for the local chapter of FFA, supporting students in district, regional, state, and national activities. Supervise Agricultural Experience (SAE) programs for all students To include, but not limited to: Assisting students in selecting a program that best fits their interests and abilities Maintain records and help students maintain needed records Locate training for students in work-based learning experiences Make supervisory visits Supervise the lab classroom for students working in supervised agricultural experience programs Record Keeping and Reporting The teacher will prepare and submit FFA rosters, entries, registrations, etc. required by the local, district, regional and state offices. Keep an accurate file copy of all records. Enter grades and attendance per AHS teacher expectations. Public and Professional Partnerships Responsibilities Assume a responsible role in public and professional partnerships by actively participating in civic, professional, agricultural, and other community organizations. Keep the public informed on student and program progress and activities. The teacher will work with the Agricultural Advisory Committee, serving as a liaison between the Advisory Committee and the district board and administration. The Ag teacher will: Plan for and facilitate Agricultural Advisory Committee Meetings Inform parents, staff, and community of the Agricultural Programs activities and progress. Collaborate and provide required information to the CTE director. Maintenance of Facilities and Equipment The teacher will maintain facilities and equipment through the following activities: Proper arrangement of the classroom, shop, lab classroom Coordinate the maintenance and repair of tools and equipment Order new equipment and supplies, as needed and within budget Establish and monitor procedures for keeping classroom, shop, lab classroom, and grounds neat and safe at all times Ensure that shop and lab safety is taught and observed at all times. Safety items are available for student use and safety features are in working order on equipment Conduct an annual inventory of all tools, equipment, and supplies and supply administration with the inventory documentation Off Campus Supervision of Students The teacher will supervise students at off-campus activities such as conventions, contests, workshops, and field trips associated with the agriculture program and FFA. Extended Contract Guidelines Teaching contract to include 16 additional days to cover requirements for FFA & Ag activities outside of the regular school day. Salary per ASD Master Agreement Reports to: AHS Building Principal Contract days per school calendar
