AI Automation Specialist Charlotte, NC (Local Preferred) · Remote-Capable · Part-Time · $35 – $55/hour Multi-Business Portfolio Company · Ground-Floor Opportunity · Hiring Now About the Role We are building something from scratch — and we need someone who gets excited by that, not intimidated by it. We are a growing multi-business portfolio company launching and scaling businesses across multiple industries over the next 3+ years. There is no existing AI infrastructure. No pre-built stack. No playbook handed to you. You will be our very first AI hire, and your job is to design and build the systems that will power everything we do going forward. We are based in Charlotte, NC and strongly prefer someone local. This is not a faceless remote gig — we want someone who is genuinely part of the team, who we can collaborate with in person, and who buys into what we are building together. Remote flexibility is available once you are established, but proximity and chemistry matter to us. Here is what that looks like in practice: Assess each business in our portfolio and identify where AI and automation create the most leverage Design and build workflow automations from scratch using tools like Make, Zapier, n8n, and custom API integrations Implement AI agents, LLM-powered tools, and chatbots tailored to real operational problems Connect platforms — CRMs, scheduling tools, e-commerce systems, communication tools — into clean, unified systems Build dashboards and reporting so we can see what is working and what is not Document everything you build so it is maintainable and scalable as the team grows Train team members on the tools and systems you create Stay ahead of the curve — bring new tools and ideas to the table before we ask What We're Looking For Required 2+ years of hands-on experience building automations with Make (Integromat), Zapier, or n8n Real experience with AI/LLM tools — prompt engineering, API integrations, or agent frameworks Ability to work independently and own projects from idea to deployment Strong communication skills — you can translate technical work into plain language A portfolio or concrete examples of automations you have built Preferred Python or JavaScript skills for custom scripts and API work Experience with CRMs (GoHighLevel, HubSpot, Salesforce), e-commerce platforms, or scheduling tools Exposure to AI voice agents or conversational AI systems Experience supporting multiple businesses or clients at the same time Charlotte-area based or ready to relocate Compensation & Benefits $35 – $55/hour depending on experience · Part-Time Flexible hours — we care about results, not a rigid schedule Local-first with remote flexibility once established Direct access to founders — no layers, no bureaucracy, no politics Real ownership over your work and the systems you build Clear growth path: Specialist → Lead → Head of AI as the portfolio grows A team that works hard, holds high standards, and has fun doing it How to Apply Apply through Indeed and include the following in your message or cover letter: A specific example of an automation or AI system you built — what the problem was, what you built, and what happened as a result The tools and platforms you are most confident working in Why a ground-floor, build-it-from-scratch role at a multi-business portfolio company appeals to you We review every application personally.
