Job Summary The Allied Health Supervisor Associate for Taubman Surgery and Taubman Urology reports to the Administrative Manager and partners with the Taubman Surgery and Taubman Urology Nursing supervisor and Medical Director regarding performance and management of staff within these Ambulatory care Units. General Surgery and Urology are Ambulatory Care Units within the Surgical Specialties group that perform a variety of services for patients in an outpatient setting. These services include but are not limited to procedures, testing, preoperative work ups, and surgical evaluations. Supervises the work of technical assistants in a medical clinical unit. Trains technical assistants and demonstrates laboratory and operative procedures, including the preparation of medication and application of clinical techniques. Under FLSA, incumbents in this position are nonexempt. Responsibilities* Essential Functions Provide comprehensive staff orientation to assigned work areas. Ensure appropriate resources, training time, and ongoing development opportunities are provided. Deliver constructive, timely feedback regarding performance and professional growth. Implement and manage staffing plans and schedules to meet operational and customer needs. Create and maintain monthly schedules, manage time?off requests, ensure adequate coverage, review time sheets, and provide staffing coverage as needed. Support hiring, discipline, and termination processes for assigned roles. Ensure cash?handling and revenue charge capture activities comply with institutional guidelines while meeting accuracy and timeliness standards. Partner with internal stakeholders to optimize revenue cycle outcomes. Coordinate daily Clerical and Medical Assistant (MA) staff activities to promote efficient clinical flow. Proactively identify and resolve operational issues. Collaborate closely with the Call Center Supervisor and ACU Manager to ensure coordinated workflows and standardized processes. Participate in and lead development and evaluation of operational procedures. Participate in and lead, as appropriate, process improvement initiatives, change management activities, and evaluation preparation. Assess, develop, and maintain ongoing staff competencies. Provide leadership in applying improvement principles and integrating Daily Management Systems (DMS) into day?to?day operations. Manage ad?hoc provider template editing in collaboration with the template editor. Serve as a role model and active member of the leadership team, demonstrating positive, effective communication across the units. Represent the ACU in departmental meetings and institutional initiatives including Revenue Cycle Forums and regulatory readiness activities. Support clinical providers in the effective use of MiChart (Epic) electronic medical records. Ensure staff and clinic environments remain Joint Commission?ready and compliant with all regulatory and accreditation standards. Manage and resolve operational issues affecting providers within assigned Surgical Specialty areas. Collaboration with Departments Partner with Central Authorization teams to minimize care delays related to authorizations and fill last?minute cancellations. Collaborate regularly with support service departments like the contact center to ensure operational and strategic goals are met. Patient Care and Experience Ensure high levels of patient satisfaction through analysis of patient and family feedback, development of action plans, and implementation of improvement strategies. Address patient and family concerns and complaints promptly, ensuring appropriate follow?up and continuous evaluation of processes. Collaborate with ACU managers in Surgery and Urology to review incident reports and ensure proper follow?up actions are taken.
