Job Description We are looking to hire new team members to work during our Lunch Service. Saleya Cafe serves wonderful Italian style focaccia sandwiches on daily baked bread, a variety of flatbreads, salads and soups. We maintain an organized and respectful kitchen environment. We do prefer that applicants have some previous experience working in cafes, delis or restaurants. This job is for 5 days a week from 8am-4pm. The restaurant is open Monday-Saturday. Working Friday and Saturday is mandatory, with time off requests being considered on an as requested basis. Responsibilities Prepare the components that make up our various dishes such as, sandwich spreads, cut raw vegetables, salad dressings, sliced deli meats, condiments. Learn our standards of preparation for the various recipes Maintain strict food handling and safety standards, including proper storage, sanitation, and cleanliness procedures Support kitchen operations by organizing ingredients, utensils, and supplies for efficient workflow Help with dishwashing, equipment cleaning, and overall kitchen sanitation to uphold hygiene standards Work on a food preparation station during service with other staff to prepare the completed menu items in a urgent manner. Look for or ask for tasks to be done as to maximize your contribution to our restaurant during your shift Skills Experience working in dietary departments or as a dietary aide is highly desirable Prior culinary or kitchen experience in restaurants or the food industry enhances your suitability for this role Food preparation and cooking skills, including knife handling and meal assembly techniques Knowledge of food safety practices and proper food handling procedures Ability to follow detailed instructions for recipe preparation and dish assembly Excellent food service skills with a focus on catering or serving in fast-paced environments Familiarity with kitchen equipment, utensils, and cleaning protocols necessary for maintaining a hygienic workspace Pay: $18.00 per hour Work Location: In person
