Job Summary The Group Leader of Analytical Development oversees daily laboratory operations and leads a team responsible for developing, validating, transferring, and verifying analytical methods. This role combines technical expertise, people leadership, and project management to ensure high-quality analytical support for raw materials, intermediates, and finished products in a regulated pharmaceutical environment. Responsibilities Supervise and mentor a team of 5–8 scientists, supporting training, performance, and career development Lead development, validation, and lifecycle management of analytical methods Manage laboratory activities to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant operations Communicate project status and results to internal and external stakeholders Troubleshoot and resolve complex analytical and technical issues Oversee transfer of analytical methods to Quality Control and Process Support teams Provide leadership for cross-functional project teams and plant support initiatives Ensure adherence to cGMP, SOPs, safety standards, and regulatory requirements Train staff on analytical techniques, instrumentation, and safe laboratory practices Perform and review analytical testing, including qualification of reference materials Author and review technical reports, protocols, and laboratory documentation Support R&D initiatives and evaluation of new business opportunities Coordinate off-site testing and maintain strong collaboration with partner departments Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry (analytical focus preferred); advanced degree a plus Minimum 8 years of industry experience in analytical method development and validation, preferably in pharmaceuticals Proven leadership experience managing technical teams Strong expertise in analytical instrumentation (HPLC, GC, LC/MS, FTIR, UV-Vis, NMR) Demonstrated success in method validation supporting production environments In-depth knowledge of cGMP, regulatory compliance, and safety standards Experience with Empower 3 or similar data systems preferred
