Job Overview: Ingersoll Rand is seeking a highly motivated Analytical Engineer who can thrive inside an interactive & dynamic team where safety, quality, creativity, and continuous improvement are paramount. All Analytical Engineers are involved with the marketing, tendering, product development, and design & testing of our equipment at global facilities. Principal responsibilities include mechanical analysis and rotodynamic evaluation of centrifugal compressors. Analytical Engineers are expected to have a high degree of tech savvy and continuously stay up to date with the latest industry trends. Extensive analytical effort is used to ensure proper mechanical performance of the compressor. The focus of this position is Engineered to Order (ETO) system design. Responsibilities: - Complete design evaluations that include, but not limited to, dynamic and static simulation of rotating systems (lateral and torsional), bearing behavior and affected component life. Tendering Support: In this function, the Analytical Engineer directly interacts with the Tendering, Mechanical and Aerodynamics Engineers to optimize compressor to meet customer requirements. Design responsibilities: Analytical Engineers are directly responsible for the lateral and torsional rotor and bearing design for centrifugal compressors. This will include finite element analysis of bearing and gearing operation. Customer interaction: The Analytical Engineer will have numerous internal and external customers. The Analytical Engineer must demonstrate ability to effectively communicate to a diverse audience and varying technical levels. Product Testing: Each Analytical Engineer is responsible for ensuring the successful mechanical test and field operation of compressors. This will involve global test stand and field operation support as well as a high degree of root cause diagnostics skills. The Analytical Engineer will also work with the Analytical Engineering team to implement process improvements based on lessons learned from product testing. Work regularly, dependably and independently. The applicant shall be flexible to occasionally (<~5%) work during non-standard hours in order to provide support to global Ingersoll Rand locations.Ability to travel, including internationally, up to 10% (typically Requirements: Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or Computer Science. 3+ years of related work experience. Experience in dynamics, gearing, vibrations, tribology and materials. Finite element analysis and/or computer programming skills (ANSYS APDL, VBA, for example). Core Competencies: Strong working knowledge of computer systems and basic Microsoft Office. The applicant must have a strong command of the English language, and be capable of clearly communicating in writing and speaking with peers, leadership, and internal / external customers. Flexibility to handle multiple projects of varying size and scope. Capability to quickly and efficiently understand, condense, and organize information to make informed engineering decisions. Self-motivated, responsible, clear communication skills, detail-oriented, and personable.
