This position reports to: Engineering Team Manager __ Your Role And Responsibilities In this role, you will have the opportunity to act as the lead designer for a particular design discipline in the medium to high complexity design projects. Each day, you will facilitate the completion of projects’ technical design assignments across engineering disciplines, both in-house and outsourced, in an efficient and cost-effective manner and in accordance with contract specifications, quality standards, safety requirements, and cybersecurity policies and standards. You will also showcase your expertise by applying design thinking or design for excellence concepts in projects. The work model for the role is: Onsite in Houston, TX. You will be mainly accountable for: Coaching engineering colleagues on the translation of conceptual designs to engineering documentation, best practices, and lessons learned from past projects. Preparing RFQs to meet contractual requirements and provides technical evaluation of suppliers’ proposals. Creating work plans and cost estimates for the portfolio of projects, in consultation with respective project managers. Determining the usage of relevant tools (e.g., 2D, 3D) and processes and uses internal/ external networks to keep track of new developments to promote innovation and productivity. Qualifications For The Role Bachelor's Degree with 10+ years of experience or Associate's Degree/HS Diploma with 12+ years of experience is required. Sound knowledge of engineering techniques, processes and tools for Refining, Chemical or Petrochemical industries Ability to problem solve and adapt to different theories in an ever-evolving design process due to the custom nature of the products. Strong knowledge in analyzers and sample systems and the chemical, petrochemical oil and gas market; Possess an enhanced knowledge of Gas Chromatograph Analyzers is preferred Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.
