Job Description
Job Summary Masters prepared specialty anesthesiologist assistant working under the direction of a licensed anesthesiologist. Administers anesthesia protocols to patients and follows up on after care. The supervising Anesthesiologist shall, at all times, be responsible for the activities of the Anesthesiologist Assistant. Limited to select locations based on unique workplace dynamics. Essential Functions Of The Role Administers anesthesia under the medical direction of an anesthesiologist, including prescribed anesthetic with particular care to the cardiovascular, respiratory and metabolic health of the patient. Utilizes advanced treatment modalities such as advanced airway interventions, intubation of the trachea, starting and adjusting doses of vasoactive infusions, administering vasoactive and anesthetic drugs, administering blood and other modalities prescribed by the supervising anesthesiologist. Consults with supervising anesthesiologist for induction of anesthesia, extubation of the trachea, management of unexpected or adverse perioperative events, or any deviation of the prescribed anesthetic significantly from its expected course. Establishes a comprehensive patient database through chart review, patient examination and interview to assist in anesthetic planning; orders appropriate pre‑op evaluations and pre‑medications under consultation with the anesthesiologist. Initiates and interprets multi‑parameter monitoring prior to anesthesia or in other acute care settings, including ASA standard monitors, arterial and venous catheters, central venous, pulmonary artery, and intracranial catheters and other indicated devices. Assists in post‑operative management of patients, managing post‑op ventilator support and acute pain management in conjunction with existing protocols or the attending anesthesiologist. Qualifications Education: Master’s degree Experience: Less than 1 year of experience Certification/License/Registration: Certified Anesthesiologist Assistant (AA‑C)
