Please click here for the recruitment announcement.THE DEPARTMENTThe Animal Services Division serves the community by providing a wide range of animal related services. Animal Control is responsible for enforcing laws and ordinances related to the treatment and control of animals in the communities that we service. The division’s staff of office assistants, animal care workers and animal control officers are committed to promote and ensure public health and safety, facilitate responsible pet ownership, humanely and responsibly care for the animals in our care and facilitate effective placement, provide prompt and courteous service to our customers, and provide education and positive enforcement efforts that will engage community members. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES THE POSITIONThis position generally works independently under general supervision of the Animal Services Manager. The selected candidate will be responsible for a variety of animal control and shelter operation functions which includes animal regulations and ordinance enforcement, reunification of lost missing pets, capture and release of wild animals, animal care and adoption, licensing compliance, barking nuisance calls, and related duties. This position will coordinate and work collaboratively with the other Animal Control Officers in the division. Other responsibilities include investigations, report writing, public relation activities and public assistance. The Animal Control Officer is expected to work shifts which include nights, weekends, holidays and will be on call during off-duty hours for emergency situations. SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION PHYSICAL STANDARDSPositions in this class require field work resulting in exposure to the weather and the ability to conduct duties in areas of unstable footing.
