Animal Control Officer Rabun Paws 4 Life, Inc. – Rabun County, Georgia Full-Time | Outdoor & Community-Based Role Rabun Paws 4 Life, a nonprofit No-Kill animal control and shelter organization serving beautiful Rabun County in the North Georgia mountains, is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Animal Control Officer to join our team. This position plays a critical role in protecting both animals and the community through humane enforcement, education, and coordinated response efforts. Position Overview The Animal Control Officer is responsible for responding to animal-related calls, enforcing local ordinances, and ensuring the safety and welfare of animals and residents. This role works in close coordination with the Rabun County Marshal’s Office on animal cases and investigations. Key Responsibilities Respond to calls regarding stray, injured, abused, or nuisance animals Safely capture and transport animals to the shelter or veterinary care Investigate animal cruelty, neglect, and ordinance violations Coordinate animal-related cases with the Rabun County Marshal Educate the public on animal laws, safety, and responsible pet ownership Maintain accurate records, reports, and case documentation Testify in court when required Assist with shelter intake and animal care as needed Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required Prior experience in animal control, law enforcement, veterinary care, or animal handling preferred Strong communication and conflict-resolution skills Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in the field Comfortable handling animals of all sizes and temperaments Must be 25 years of age or older for insurance purposes Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required Must be able to reach the shelter in 30 minutes from home in case of emergency Physical Requirements Ability to lift and carry up to 50+ pounds Work outdoors in various weather conditions Handle physically and emotionally demanding situations Compensation & Benefits Salary: $31,200 annually Opportunities for training and certification Rewarding work making a direct impact in the community Why Join Rabun Paws 4 Life?
