Job SummaryThe Animal Control Officer plays a vital role in ensuring the safety and welfare of both animals and the community.This position involves responding to calls regarding animal-related issues, enforcing animal control laws, and providing care for animals in distress.The ideal candidate will possess strong conflict management skills, a passion for animal welfare, and the ability to work effectively in high-pressure situations.Job Description:1.Animal Control Officer will enforce County and State regulations, included but not limited, to cruelty to animals, dangerous/vicious animal and animal bites, whether said bites being from a dog, cat, fowl or livestock.2.Be on 24 hour call, including emergency night calls.3.Animal Control Officer would pick-up strays, sick/injured, and unwanted and captured animals transporting them to appropriate destination.4.If necessary set traps to capture evasive domestic/wildlife, that may be causing a disturbance in the area.5.Issues warnings/citations to animal owners found in violation of animal regulations and to follow up with a court report.6.File a monthly report to the Village of Earlville Board.Qualifications to apply for the position:1.High School diploma or GED.2.Valid driver's license.3.Two years of experience of working with animals.Unusual demands:Being subject to emergency callbacks.Physical demands:1.The work is regularly active, however may have periods of heavy exertion, work would mainly be performed outside in varying weather conditions.2.Worker may be required to walk or stand for long periods; lift and carry up to 100 lbs.; climb stairs/or ladders; bend, kneel, crouch, and crawl; reach, hold, grasp on to an animal.Animal Control Officer is subject to work weekends and holidays, if needed.Job Type:Part-time Pay:$1,685.00 per year Expected hours:No more than 4 per week Experience:working with animals:2 years (Required) Ability to Commute:Earlville, NY 13332 (Required) Work Location:In person.
