Experience with animal care & customer service is required.(3) Professional References are required.Resumes that do not meet requirements, will not be considered.Job Title:Animal Welfare Technician/Adoption Counselor Job Description:The Animal Welfare Technician/Adoption Counselor is responsible for the highest quality of animal care and cleanliness of the facility as well as customer service, adoption counseling, and facilitating adoptions.General understanding of customer service, administrative and reception skills, animal behavior and care is required for this position.Responsibilities:Works alongside Animal Welfare Staff in order to maintain general day to day shelter cleanliness, including morning cleaning tasks.(laundry, dishes, daily checks, ongoing cleaning tasks, etc.) Provide all animals at the Cherryland Humane Society with professional, compassionate care, meeting physical/behavioral needs.Abides by the policies and procedures in place to ensure humane handling and safety.Responsible for polite, accurate, effective, and consistent customer service with the public; in shelter, through email, over the phone, etc.Perform administrative tasks as needed through shelter software, google drive, & Microsoft office.Effectively educate adopters on adoption requirements, policies, and procedures.Facilitates adoptions, matchmaking, post adoption support with the public and our animals.Observation of the animals to monitor health, stress, and behavior.Concerns are to be reported to their supervisor or affiliated staff member.Working collaboratively with other Animal Welfare Staff to manage stress reduction, general animal care, socialization, and shelter operations to achieve the highest quality of care for the animals at CHS.Assumes responsibility for the humane care and treatment of animals.Reports questions, concerns, or problems to the Shelter Animal Welfare Manager or Executive Director.Participates in staff meetings to continue the improvements of working conditions, quality of care, and the organization.Maintains a high level of communication with other shelter personnel.Performs other duties as required to ensure a positive public image and to improve the functioning of this organization.Play an active role in the volunteer training process to ensure volunteers adhere to CHS standards.Know, understand, and enforce shelter policies & procedures.May be required to operate shelter machinery, including vehicles, lawn mowers, etc.Additional duties may be required at the discretion of the Shelter Animal Welfare Manager or the Executive Director.Required Skills:Believes in the mission of the Cherryland Humane Society.Treats animals humanely and transmits these values to others.Keep a positive attitude, have the ability to deal tactfully and effectively with staff, volunteers, and the public.Demonstrates efficient time management and ability to prioritize workload.Participates with other CHS staff to share ideas and suggestions designed to improve position, mission & goals.Willingness and enthusiasm for a continued state of learning in regard to animal welfare.Understands position is performed in a shelter setting which is often noisy, physically and mentally demanding, and may require tasks which are stressful.Employees may be exposed to injury, disease, and/or infection from handling animals.Hours are irregular as the animal's best interest and quality of care are a top priority.Must be able to work weekends and holidays.Must be able to stand for long periods, kneel, and have the ability to lift 50lbs.Job Type:Full-time Pay:From $16.00 per hour Benefits:Dental insurance Employee discount Health insurance Paid time off Vision insurance Work Location:In person.
