The coordinator manages bi-weekly payroll, employee data management, and ensures compliance with union contracts and Massachusetts state reporting requirements (MTRS, W-2s). Payroll and Personnel Coordinator Job Description Position Summary: Responsible for the accurate, timely, and confidential processing of payroll, including withholdings, deductions for all school district employees (approximately 200 employees). This role functions as the primary liaison between the finance office, HR, and staff regarding pay, benefits, and contract adherence. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Payroll Processing: Process bi-weekly payroll for all personnel, including tracking time/attendance, substitute teachers, stipends, and deductions. Personnel Management: Enter new hires, promotions, transfers, and terminations into the payroll system; maintain accurate employee records and personnel files. Compliance & Reporting: Ensure compliance with federal and Massachusetts wage/hour laws, collective bargaining agreements. Benefits Liaison: Reconcile benefit deductions (health insurance, dental, life) with vendors and handle employee enrollment issues. Support Services: Respond to inquiries from staff, provide employment verifications, and assist with year-end W-2 distribution. The actual production of W2s is currently done through Harpers payroll.Qualifications: Education/Experience: 3-5 years of payroll experience, ideally within a Massachusetts school district or municipality.Bachelors degree in accounting a plus, but not necessary Knowledge & Technical Skills: Proficiency in school financial software Knowledge of Tyler School ERP Pro, Harpers a plus Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Google Suite.Familiarity with Massachusetts union contracts, MTRS regulations, and payroll tax lawsKey Competencies: High level of confidentiality and discretion.Strong attention to detail, & proficiency with financial data, ability to handle interruptions.Excellent interpersonal skills to support staff inquiriesDistrict CORI Check required before employment beginsFederal Fingerprint Check required before employment begins
