(Appraiser)Associate’s degree from an accredited college in real estate, business administration or related field. (Appraiser Trainee)ORA combination of education and experience equivalent to two (2) years of experience in a related or customer focused position. (Appraiser) Required Special Qualifications: Certified Minnesota Assessor (CMA) certification from the Minnesota State Board of Assessors is required within two (2) years of employment. As a condition of continued employment, persons with a CMA certification must obtain and keep licensure as an Accredited Minnesota Assessor (AMA) within five (5) years of having become licensed as a CMA. (Appraiser Trainee) Certified Minnesota Assessor (CMA) certification from the Minnesota State Board of Assessors is required upon employment. (Appraiser) EXAMPLE OF DUTIES Under general supervision, appraises residential, agricultural or other property for tax assessment purposes. Participates in appeals or requests for changes of valuations and/or classification and administration of property tax programs. Supports a diverse, respectful, and inclusive workplace. SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION Knowledge of real estate appraisal principles, methods, techniques, procedures, laws and regulations pertaining to the administration of Minnesota property tax and property tax classification systemKnowledge and ability to reach a credible value opinion of value utilizing the three approaches to valueSkill in the use of computers and technologyAbility to understand appropriate mass appraisal statistical measures and analytical techniquesAbility to analyze factors which influence the value of property and to exercise sound judgment in determining property valuesAbility to independently perform logical and accurate field appraisal dutiesAbility to guide, train and review the work of other property appraisersAbility to make arithmetical computations and tabulations with speed and accuracyAbility to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and to address the public in a courteous and pleasant mannerAbility to effectively communicate in both verbal and written formRecognizes opportunities for system and process improvement.
