Part-Time Pay Rate $11.00/hour Plus FREE YMCA Membership (The Beaver County YMCA will pay for all lifeguard certifications, if needed.) QUALIFICATIONS: A minimum age of 15 years of age; certifications for Lifeguarding, CPR, AED, Oxygen and First Aid. BASIC FUNCTION: Responsible for the safety of aquatic participants by observing the pool and program participants to assure that safe conditions exist. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES At least one lifeguard (holding current YMCA, or Red Cross certification) will be on duty at all times when the pool or pool area is in use. All lifeguards that are on duty will be "rescue ready", meaning each guard should be: properly attired and easily identifiable, holding Rescue Tube with strap around their shoulder, equipped with a resuscitation mask and protective gloves, wearing a whistle, positioned at the pool's edge, standing or seated in an elevated guard stand and actively scanning their area of coverage completely within 10 seconds and are able to get to a victim under water within 10 seconds. Observe participants in the pool and the pool area. Maintain pool and make sure pool area is safe and clean. Maintain professional conduct and a neat appearance consistent with the Aquatic Dress Policy. Maintain an alert and observant behavior at all times. Be aware of the YMCA programs and schedules and willingly share the information with participants. Promote the YMCA mission. Suggest improvements. Attend trainings and meetings when scheduled. Be a positive example of the YMCA to the members and participants. Perform all other functions as assigned, relative to the welfare of the association.
