Arbor Eatery Support Staff Location:Arbor Eatery Reports To:Caf ManagerEmployment Type:Part-time Position Overview The Arbor Eatery support staff is a front and back-of-house position.This role is responsible for delivering warm, efficient, and knowledgeable service at the service window and being able to assist in the preparation of food items.Key Responsibilities for Front of house Guest Experience & Service Greet guests warmly and guide them through our pastry, coffee, and caf offerings Take orders accurately and efficiently using POS systems Deliver food and beverages with care, attention, and hospitality Maintain a calm, friendly demeanor during high-volume periods Answer questions about ingredients, sourcing, allergens, and daily specials Food & Beverage Standards Uphold presentation and quality standards for all menu items Communicate clearly with baristas and kitchen staff to ensure smooth service Monitor caf cleanliness, including tables, counters, and service areas Operations & Teamwork Open and close service stations according to checklists Handle cash and card transactions responsibly Support teammates across front-of-house as needed Follow food safety, sanitation, and Arboretum guidelines at all times Key Responsibilities for Back of house Prepare, bake, reheat, and finish pastries and quiches according to French Broad Pastry standards and caf recipes Prepare and execute caf menu items including salads, desserts, and sandwiches, ensuring quality, consistency, and proper portioning Execute daily service with efficiency, accuracy, and attention to presentation across all menu offerings Set up, stock, and break down the line each day, including ovens, refrigeration, hot and cold holding, prep stations and dishwasher Reports inventory needs to Cafe Lead Maintain proper storage, labeling, rotation, and holding of all food items to ensure freshness and minimize waste Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health department guidelines, including temperature checks, cleaning schedules, and safe food handling Assist with prep tasks as needed Keep workstations clean, organized, and fully stocked throughout service Coordinate with front-of-house staff to support smooth service flow and excellent guest experience Contribute to a positive kitchen culture grounded in teamwork, accountability, efficiency, and pride in craft Qualifications Previous caf , restaurant, or customer-facing experience preferred (but not required) Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 30 lbs Availability on weekends, holidays, and peak visitor hours What We Offer Competitive hourly pay tips ($18-$28) Training in hospitality, product knowledge, and service standards A positive, values-driven work environment The opportunity to work in one of Asheville's most beautiful public spaces Growth opportunities within the Arbor Eatery Availability This position requires 25 to 35 hours per week with preference given to those with open availability, including weekends.Pay:$18.00 - $28.00 per hour Work Location:In person.
