Aspen Tree Service is hiring for a Arborist Ground Worker to join our team.Whatever your experience is coming in, Aspen Tree Service will help you take your abilities, and your career to the next level.The best part is that you'll be joining a team of friendly, seasoned, certified pros who have been setting the industry standards for 40 years.If you're looking for a long-term career with opportunities for growth and advancement, we'd love to hear from you.We offer a supportive, transparent work environment, competitive pay, ongoing training, health insurance, paid holidays, and more.JOB DESCRIPTION The title says it all, a Arborist Ground Worker conducts tree care operations from the ground, including chipping brush, assisting aerial lift operators or climbers, and general site set-up and clean-up.Aspen Tree Service will provide extensive training on hazard recognition, job briefings, plant identification, basic ground knots, equipment and safety.Must maintain a positive attitude with internal and external customers.Candidate must possess a valid Colorado Driver's license and pass a company driving test.Industry related professional certifications and licenses considered a plus.Must be able to obtain TCIA Ground Operations Specialist certification within 6 months - & we provide the training! REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Must possess a valid Colorado driver's license.Must pass company driving test.ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Demonstrates proper job set up, including proper use of cones, signs, tape to create a defensive work zone.Able to lead a pre-leave site meeting.Gains knowledge of plant identification and basic tree biology.Demonstrates safe and effective clean up strategies, including use of audible warnings, identifying drop zones, proper lifting technique, proper care and utilization of cleanup tools.Is trained on and demonstrates safe and effective operation of a wood chipper, including pre-operation inspection, starting, reading gauges, clutch engaging/disengaging, identify proper use and mechanics of safety guards.Operates and maintains company vehicles and equipment safely, reports any major repairs to the manager.Grease and basic maintenance and identification of key components and their proper functions of tools and equipment.Demonstrate basic ground knots.Uses handsaw, pole saw, pole pruner, hand pruners, ball cart, shovels, rakes, rigging devices, and related equipment.Effectively communicates with the trim crew foreman, trim crew manager, and safety coordinator to gain clarity, communicate changes in scope of work, and request additional support.Upholds all policies and procedures outlined in the ATS Safety Policy.Keeps work area neat and orderly.Must leave a customer's property the way it was found or in better condition.Attends and participates in all safety and training meetings.Safeguards employees, customers and the public from hazards in and around the work area.Helps enforce on-the-job safety practices.Maintains a positive attitude with internal and external customers.Performs other related work as assigned.EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE High School Diploma or GED.Ability to display good judgment in unforeseen situations such as inclement weather, pedestrian traffic, wildlife presence, and equipment malfunction.Participates in continuing education to stay abreast of industry trends and developments.Industry related professional certifications and licenses (ISA, TCIA, Colorado Department of Agriculture certifications) considered a plus.Must be able to obtain TCIA Ground Operations Specialist certification within 6 months of hire PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORK ENVIRONMENT The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Requires frequent standing, kneeling, walking, pulling, reaching, stooping and bending.Requires walking primarily on uneven turf or rocky areas while on job sites.May occasionally be exposed to moderate to loud work environments.These areas will require the use of personal protective equipment such as hearing protection.May be exposed to dust, grease, odors, mechanical and electrical hazards, and all types of weather and temperature conditions.NOTE:This job description is intended to convey information essential to understanding the scope of the job and the general nature and level of work performed by job holders within this job.This job description is not intended to be an exhaustive list of qualifications, skills, efforts, duties, responsibilities or working conditions associated with the position.Job Type:Full-time Pay:$18.00
