Job Description
KP Projects is currently looking for university students or recent graduates to fulfill an art gallery internship position. Interns will be selected by a variety of criteria including past experience and academic excellence and may choose to focus on SEO, Social Media, Design or Writing. Under the guidance of the gallery director, the gallery intern participates fully in all functions of the gallery, including the planning of gallery events, art fair participation, working with artists, database management, data entry, internet research, mailings, art installation, inventory, running errands, and general gallery maintenance & labor. Schedule of 2-3 days per week is flexible within gallery hours, Tuesday – Saturday, 12-6pm. There are evening events every 4 to 6 weeks. Internships last 3 to 4 months and offer class credit. QUALIFICATIONS Mac proficient Detail-oriented Interest in art gallery management Willing to work hard and get hands dirty Willing to perform menial tasks Excellent phone manner Reliable Transportation Handy with tools Good sense of humor Writing ability a plus Organizational skills a plus To apply, Email brief cover letter and resume to Jessica O'Dowd, jessica@kpprojects.net In addition to the general gallery internship of assisting with day-to-day operations and carrying out general gallery tasks, interns may fulfill specialized: Social Media and Publicity - manages and maintains gallery's social media presence and assists with public relations by researching and contacting writers and media outlets, retrieving and compiling press on the gallery and its artists, designing email, Facebook, and Twitter campaigns, monitoring gallery's and artists' social media usage, expanding gallery's audience and establishing presence through innovative forms of communication. Qualifications: Mac proficient, Microsoft Office proficient, Twitter/Facebook/Myspace/Instagram proficient, exceptional writing and editing skills, ability to create and follow schedule with deadlines, organized. Graphic + Web Design - assists with creating promotional graphics materials which includes designing show mailers, retouching photographs sizing and color correction, editing layouts. Qualifications: Mac proficient, Microsoft Office proficient, Adobe CS proficient, ability to follow directions, work quickly and meet deadlines. Journalism and Writing - writes press releases, social media campaigns, articles and other gallery literature. Qualifications: exceptional writing and editing skills, ability to write in clear, professional voice, understanding of art and vocabulary to write about art, ability to follow directions, work quickly and meet deadlines.
