Job Description
Lea+Elliott is seeking a motivated and analytically minded Artificial Intelligence Strategy Intern to join our Pittsburgh office for Summer 2026. This role is ideal for a student interested in the intersection of engineering, business strategy, and emerging AI technologies. The intern will support the development and implementation of the firm’s AI strategy, working closely with technical and business teams to evaluate tools, improve workflows, and enhance knowledge management capabilities. This position offers exposure to real-world consulting applications of AI in a professional engineering environment. Key Responsibilities Supporting research and analysis of emerging opportunities, technologies, and market trends relevant to transportation consulting. Assisting with evaluation and pilot testing of AI tools and integrations within existing business systems and workflows. Helping organize, structure, and expand internal knowledge resources to improve accessibility and usability for engineering teams. Collaborating with staff to identify process improvements and opportunities to enhance productivity through automation and intelligent systems. Conducting feasibility assessments and documenting findings in a clear, professional manner suitable for internal decision-making. Defining and documenting use cases, data requirements, and expected value for potential AI-enabled workflows. Evaluating the effectiveness of different approaches to accessing and using data within AI tools to inform implementation decisions. Required QUALIFICATIONS Current undergraduate or graduate student in Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Business, or a related field. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate complex systems and processes. Familiarity with artificial intelligence concepts, including generative AI tools and data-driven applications. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present findings clearly and professionally. Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Preferred Qualifications Experience with scripting or programming (Python or similar). Exposure to enterprise tools such as SharePoint, CRM systems, or data platforms. Interest in transportation systems, infrastructure, or engineering consulting. Experience conducting research, synthesizing information, and developing structured recommendations.
