Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated ASCP Certified Phlebotomy Technician to join a healthcare facility in the Southern United States region. This role involves expertly drawing blood samples from patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings for diagnostic and medical purposes. Responsibilities: Perform blood collection using appropriate techniques tailored for infants, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients. Ensure all specimens are correctly labeled and suitable for the ordered tests. Promptly communicate critical or "panic" lab results to nursing staff following established protocols. Maintain accurate documentation by dating reagents and supplies upon receipt and use, and regularly checking expiration dates to discard expired items. Utilize sharps containers properly to dispose of needles and syringes safely. Keep the laboratory collection area organized, clean, and well-stocked at all times. Adhere to safety standards to protect both patients and self during all procedures. Efficiently use laboratory equipment, supplies, and time to maximize productivity. Stay current with departmental updates and continuing education requirements. Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; phlebotomy certification preferred. Experience: Previous experience in a hospital or clinical laboratory setting is highly valued. Requirements: Strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work compassionately with diverse patient populations.
