Job Summary: Provide essential clinical support in the operating room, assisting anesthesia providers, surgeons, and team members with procedural tasks to ensure smooth surgical operations. Maintain high standards of instrument processing and sterile technique in accordance with industry guidelines. Essential Responsibilities Assist anesthesia, surgeons, and OR staff with procedural needs and equipment management. Monitor and process instruments and equipment following manufacturer, AMMI, AORN, and AST standards. Perform cleaning, decontamination, and sterilization of surgical instruments and supplies. Adapt work schedule to meet fluctuating department activity levels and prioritize tasks effectively. Use supplies judiciously to support quality patient care. Quality and Patient Care Support nursing staff by obtaining non-routine supplies promptly without compromising care quality. Respond to changes in patient care needs and collaborate with the surgical team to adjust plans accordingly. Assist in revising preference cards, instrument sets, and supply pull sheets as technology and procedures evolve. Promote teamwork by accepting and delegating tasks appropriately. Patient Satisfaction and Safety Work collaboratively with healthcare providers to prepare instrument and supply setups prior to cases. Maintain a professional, quiet environment to enhance patient and staff experience. Adhere strictly to HIPAA regulations and sterile field protocols, reporting any breaches immediately. Verify medications and supplies passed to the sterile field using a double-check system. Professional Development Maintain current knowledge of anatomy, instruments, and equipment. Share expertise through orientation, cross-training, and mentoring peers and new staff.
